The SoCal Shelby American Automotive Club held its second annual Shelby Car Show free-of-charge on Sunday May 28 at the Deer Park Winery & Car Museum in Escondido, California. The event hosted the finest customized Shelbys America has to offer, including Cobras, GTs, Daytonas, ACs, and CSX 2000s and 3000s.
The aim of the event had more to do with charity than it did Shelbys. Entrants paid a registration fee of $30 to have their vehicle presented at the event. All the proceeds benefit the Warrior Foundation Freedom Station, an organization working to help military veterans adjust to civilian life.
“We were invited to be the charity-of-choice. We support the injured warriors. We work to give our troops everything the government can’t or won’t on a daily basis… One of the biggest things we do is we raise money and ensure every injured warrior home for Christmas,” WWFS spokesperson Judy Sexton explained. “Nobody takes a paycheck. We sell shirts, hats, cookbooks, pins, decals to raise money.”
Despite the Shelby name in SAAC, the event also hosted Mustangs, Tigers, replicas, classic Fords, and more, including a German-imported Escort rally-car coupe. With 125 cars on display, there was something for everyone.
