Check out the cool in car video of Al Jimenez’s second-generation Camaro, making a record pass of 205.47 mile-per-hour on leaf springs! At this year’s and NMCA Street Car Shoot Out Finals, Al’s 1,800+ horsepower Camaro laid down the awesome pass you’ll see in the video. What started out as a fun $800 streetcar build, turned into one of the fastest cars on leaf springs, in fact, Al ran 7.56 ET at 188.8 miles an hour back in 2008 to set the PSCA record on a Mickey Thompson P275/60 drag radial.

Through trials and tribulations, and much experimentation with different combinations it has evolved into what is now one of the fastest the cars on leaf springs to run over 200 miles an hour.  Al, who hails from San Fernando Valley, California, has gained himself quite a reputation among the PSCA and NMCA racers. The Camaro currently runs a QMP-built, 515ci big-block Chevy within F-3 Pro charger that nets him over 1800 hp to the tires!

With what we know about high horsepower race cars is,  it’s not just about making the most horsepower; it’s also a science to get that much power hooked up and down the track. So with that being said, watch the video and see what it’s like to travel over 200 miles an hour in 7 seconds. You might also want to take note of the wind force generated at that speed, as it tries to flatten the hood scoop.
