When it comes to online automotive television programming, the DRIVE network takes the cake. But which host is the best? You’ve got Leo Parente, Chris Harris, Alex Roy and Matt Farah who all have their niche markets and cover the ins and outs of their jurisdictions quite well, so choosing one over the others might be difficult. But that was before the DRIVE Host Competition came into play.
The rules are simple- each of the four DRIVE hosts is given a Cadillac CTS-V which they must use to make at least a 2-minute long video. Then, whosever video gets the most views over a week period wins. Now it’s up to you to decide which host to choose. Check out the introductory video above.
In the interest of giving each host an even shot at glory, rules were laid out that had to be followed: no animal cruelty, no violence, no nudity and no tricks of any kind. Although some of the hosts found these rules a bit hard to abide by, they all gave a valiant effort to create the video that viewers would like most. We’ve included them all below for your viewing pleasure.
For his video, Parente decided to pay tribute to all those performance vehicle/screaming women videos that are causing quite a stir in the automotive community by hosting his own scream test. With the help of entertainment reporter Andrea Feczko, Parente takes to the track at Monticello Motor Club where the pair see if they can out-do the high-pitched, semi-surprised squeals from the cabin of a performance vehicle.
While Parente used the age-old tactic of including an attractive woman in his video, Harris went for a different approach. He decided to call up some of the guys at the biggest online automotive publications, Matt Hardigree at Jalopnik and Dan Trent of Europe’s PistonHeads.com, to get their endorsement of his video over the others. Of course this stunt wouldn’t be complete without making the phone calls from the hands-free system inside his CTS-V Wagon while drifting around Jalopnik founder and fellow DRIVE host Mike Spinelli.
Reverting back to the attractive woman tactic is Roy’s video. Here he discusses the art of seducing a woman using the CTS-V. Unfortunately for Roy, his hot date can only play along for so long before she shows him who’s really got the gearhead know-how to be discussing the car.
Farah undoubtedly is fantastic behind the wheel of a car, but with legalities, rules and regulations, he may not always get to do the things he wants, especially with DRIVE Executive Producer J.F. Musial watching his every move. Well, this is where Farah gets his revenge. While creating his video to what Musial thinks are his specifics to hit maximum G’s on the skid pad, Farah taps into his inner hoon and instead sets out to make Musial sick in the passenger seat by throwing his CTS-V into a continuous drift.
We’re not going to tell you which videos we think are better than the others. After all, that’s up to you to decide. Be sure to share your favorite with your friends so your host pick comes out on top. May the best host win!
