You need the best of everything available to build a show-stopping hot rod these days. Good looks, driveability, big power, and comfort are all part of the modern rodding package. A machine that checks off all those boxes — a gorgeous, Coyote-powered 1956 Ford F100 pickup — is hitting the auction block at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona, in January.
The builder of this F100 started out with, what is described in the listing, as a rust-free, California 1956 F100. This bodystyle is arguably the most popular of the first generation F-series trucks and difficult to improve on. However, with some subtle touches, this pickup went up to the next level.
This ’56 Ford F-100 was an extremely solid piece when its high-quality, frame-off restoration began. — Barrett-Jackson
“This ’56 Ford F-100 was an extremely solid piece when its high-quality, frame-off restoration began,” says Barrett-Jackson. “This truck spent all of its life in the California desert, where it’s nice and dry.”
After the solid truck was taken down to bare metal, the builder modified the original body with shaved turn signals; front and rear roll pans; and rounded door corners. The fenders were even widened 3 inches in the rear to increase that timeless, fat-fendered Ford look.

Coyote swaps are all the range, and the modern 5.0 powerplant definitely revs up the performance and driveability of this ultra-clean pickup.

The interior in this F100 is simply put a work of art. Almost every piece is custom and covered in sinister black. We do love that the builder retained the factory Mustang 6R80 shifter to give onlookers just a little hint at the drivetrain that lies beneath this classic.
