Video: Vote Your Choice for Modern Muscle X 2.0

The mission is simple: Five legendary brands. Three high performance muscle cars. One choice.

Last year, five performance automotive aftermarket brands (Mr. Gasket, Mallory, ACCEL, Lakewood, and Hays) came together to pump up the performance of modern muscle cars from Chevrolet, Dodge, and Ford. The mission was to develop products that transcend brands to give American muscle enhanced performance, power and control. That’s Modern Muscle X!

What was great about Modern Muscle X was their team allowed you to discover the inside track on aftermarket products as they were being developed. While the sweepstakes expired past December, the Modern Muscle X Team brings plan to bring you MMX 2.0 with more drag strip testing and competitive hi-jinks.

THE POLL
When you visit the Modern Muscle X site, you will be able to give your input on what MMX 2.0 will be: A new sweepstakes? MMX trucks? “The ultimate race?” MMX motorcycles? It’s your call!

But to give you an idea of what Modern Muscle X is all about, here’s a rundown on last year’s clutch-popping fest:

THE CARS
Their 2010 Camaro SS had the “1SS” package hooked up to a 6-speed manual. From the factory, the SS was rated at 426 horsepower but dyno testing by the Modern Muscle X Team produced 364 horsepower to the rear wheels. Going down the 1320 netted 13.20 @ 108 miles per hour.

The Dodge Boys submitted a 2010 Challenger R/T to the Modern Muscle X team. Out of the showroom, its 5.7 liter HEMI/6-speed manual transmission combo was rated at 370 horsepower but the MMX crew found 338 horsepower to the rear wheels in dyno testing. All that power was capable of ripping 13.85 @ 102.54 down the quarter.

For Blue Oval fans, the 2011 Ford Mustang GT featured the new 5.0 engine with 6-speed transmission rated at 412 horsepower. The Modern Muscle X Team dyno’d this car to 370 horsepower to the rear wheels. Stock, it turned the fastest time of the bunch: 13.01 @ 109.5 miles per hour.

THE PRODUCTS
Peruse this page and you’ll get the skinny on the modifications the Modern Muscle X team made to each of the three cars courtesy of Mr. Gasket, Mallory, ACCEL, Lakewood and Hays. You can view videos on installing equipment, dyno testing, and even MMX at SEMA!
