It would seem that the demand for Ford Performance’s top-dog Mustang—the Shelby GT350—is pushing people to desperate lengths. Recently we shared a story of stolen Shelby wheels and now we have learned of a brazen attempt to steal a new GT350R from inside Crossroads Ford in Indian Trail, North Carolina.
“Detectives are looking for information regarding a Motor Vehicle Theft and a Breaking and Entering that occurred at Crossroads Ford on Sunday, March 5. The suspect(s) drove a Ford Shelby Mustang GT350 through one of the closed service bay doors,” says Union County Sheriff’s Office in Monroe, North Carolina.
Security cam footage shows the bumbling thieves looking for a way to open a service bay door to drive away in the 526-horsepower Mustang. They give up and crash the car through a door, run it over curbs and generally abuse the car. It’s a tough watch for car enthusiasts, but the good news is the car was found nearby and the dealer is repairing it.
“The vehicle was recovered earlier today behind a nearby business. If you have information regarding this matter, please call the Union County Sheriff’s Office at (704) 283-3789 or Crimestoppers at (704) 283-5600,” the local sheriff added.
We certainly hope they find the culprits, but it’s sad the once-pristine Shelby never made it off the dealer lot before being damaged.
