More often than not, we are modding our cars to make them faster. Sometimes these mods—like lighter wheels or lowering springs—also make our cars look better. However, some times we mod just to make our cars look better. After all, if you love your car you want to make it your own.
In the case of our Focus ST, we recently traveled to Steeda Autosports in Pompano Beach, Florida, to take a look at its new Focus ST Hood Latch Release Lever (PN 555-0690; $64.95). One look at this billet beauty and we immediately wanted to have it installed.

“Made in house out of Billet 6061 aluminum and CNC machined to exacting tolerances these Steeda Focus ST Anodized Billet Aluminum Hood Latches for your 2013-2016 Ford Focus ST are far superior in strength compared to Ford’s OEM hood latch!” Steeda says about this part.
Certainly stronger is good, but the fact that the Steeda billet unit looks so much more upscale than the yellow plastic stock lever. Better yet, the company offers these levers in three different color combinations, including bare aluminum and two others.
“Our Steeda Focus ST Anodized Billet Aluminum Hood Latches are available in Anodized Red or Black with a laser engraved ST logo and plain aluminum with an engraved ST logo,” says the company. “The hood latch mounts directly to the OEM location using the OEM spring. Our hood latch comes with our Steeda lifetime warranty.”
For our Ingot Silver ST, we chose the black-anodized version with the silver ST logo (Go Raiders!). It is easy to install and really classes up the engine compartment. The only problem is our compartment needs more bling to go along with the spiffy new lever.
