The NMRA’s Coyote Stock class is possibly the series most rapidly expanding format for heads up racing. Leveling the field with a sealed crate engine, and tight rules regarding chassis, transmission, and bolt-on modifications the class is a place for those who are skilled at tuning a chassis, and piloting a race car.
The crew at Anderson Ford Motorsport has long conducted research and development in the realm of Ford Racing, having fielded their famous yellow and purple AFM coupe in EFI Renegade, and then the Real Street class years ago. It makes sense that this large midwest Ford Racing parts dealer and performance center would take up Coyote Stock Racing.
Finally coming together, the AFM Coupe now sports the requisite Coyote Stock sealed crate engine between the strut towers, and is ready for AFM’s Mark Anderson to get some seat time behind the wheel. We couldn’t confirm prior to publishing, but the car is likely headed to this weekend’s NMRA race in Maryland after missing the Atlanta race a few weeks ago.
AFM recently posted video and photos of the car on the dyno, on their Facebook page. No word on the exact horsepower that the ride put down, as Coyote stock racers tend to be a secretive bunch. Given that there’s limited work that can be done to the engine (limited bolt-on mods only), and none to the computer, though they were able to say it’s a little over 400 hp to the rear tires, but not the exact amount.
The dyno pics were posted earlier this week on April 29, and we’re curious to see how the AFM crew does in their first outing. The car is notorious for pulling some monster wheel-stands earlier in its career, and we look forward to seeing more of that. With their intensive R&D experience, and prowess at setting up stock style suspension, we’re pretty sure Mark and the AFM crew will be right in the mix with NMRA’s top Coyote Stock contenders very soon.
