Drag racers can rejoice! Everyone’s favorite automatic transmission builder, ATI Performance Products, offers Ford Bellhousing and SuperCase packages. These new packages allow any ATI Turbo 400, Turbo 350, and Powerglide transmission to bolt-up to any small-block, big-block or Modular Ford engine.
The SuperCase features a unique 3-piece design that allows it to accept ATI’s SFI Ford bellhousing, in addition to those from GM, Chrysler, and Toyota.
The design change allows the bellhousing to be removable by bolting directly to the transmission case instead of the pump bolt locations. This change also helps allow the use of internal Powerglide, Turbo 400 or Turbo 350 components.
For those who have non-GM internal components, the SuperCase band adjuster comes cast in place, and the SuperCase retains the OEM governor cavity for auto shift applications.
The SuperCase comes with CNC machined valve body passages that allow for a swift transbrake release and quicker shift times, plus stronger internal lugs and room for more clutches.
ATI notes that custom valve body passages can be made to order.
Each SuperCase is cast from 356-T6 aluminum and produced in the United States. It is machined in-house on ATI’s dedicated horizontal CNC machines and can handle more horsepower and significantly more line pressure over the OEM case.
Each case is SFI-certified with an increased extension housing thickness and bell flange area to ward off breakage. A steel safety inner liner eliminates the need for any external shields.
Extension housing options are available with an optional roller bearing for the output shaft with 1.500-inch yoke, or it can be machined to accept a TH400 sized output.
Ford SuperCase Packages sold separately from an ATI transmission build include the SFI internal balance flexplate, crank adapter, and bolts. An external balance flexplate is available for an additional cost. SuperCase Bell Packages include the bellhousing, flexplate, adapter, and hardware.
