We’re honestly not sure whether to laugh or cry at this Craigslist find. All we can really say is this is what happens when rednecks have too much time on their hands, and not enough money in their bank accounts. Well to each his own -we guess.
What you’re looking at was once 1982 Mercury Capri. The ad from the owner says this is a one-of-a-kind custom car. The damage starts at the front of the car with what the owner says is a 74 nova front clip. The rear of the car has been tubbed, and the front features a tilting nose that looks like it doesn’t fit the car. It might just be us or the camera angles but it also looks like the front fenders are much wider than the rear and the front and now has an almost 80s Camaro look to it.
Further adding insult to injury is the Chevy drivetrain the consists of a bored out 350 with Edelbrock heads, a TH400 trans and a Nova rear end with what the owner says are 30.8 gears, we can only guess they must be really steep for going to the dragstrip. Or he doesn’t know where to put his decimal points, one or the other.
The interior remains mostly stock Capri save for some seats which the seller says come from a 1993 Mustang convertible. There’s some kind of aftermarket shifter poking up through the console and everything is definitely sun-faded. Adding to the bow-tie them is also a Chevy emblem either painted or vinyl stickered to the passenger side of the dash.
The owner is selling this Capri for $1,200 and says if you know cars you know this is a good value, he even includes one new tire on the rear of the car but you’ll have to replace the other three if you buy this gem yourself. We’re not sure we’d give the scrap value for this car and it’s sad to see rare T-top Capri ruined in such a manner. What do you think? Tell us in the comments below.
