No one ever buys a Mustang, and leaves it stock.  Even when a non-performance enthusiast purchases a Mustang, they modify something about the car to make it their own. It could be minimal mods, like aftermarket floor mats, tinted windows, or simply mufflers to make the car sound better. It doesn’t matter if it’s one or two modifications, even non-enthusiasts see room for improvement.

Donnie spent a lot of time under the hood of his Cobra adding chrome and polished items to make sure car show trophies would be collected. We’re sure Donnie has a room full of trophies to show for his efforts.

You can put Donnie Huth in the category of those making way more than one or two modifications. He bought the 1997 Cobra you see here in June of 2000.  It was completely stock inside and out, top to bottom. “I knew as soon as I got it I was going to mod it over time,” Donnie says.  He just didn’t know to what extent he would modify the car. “I knew I wanted to do car shows again with a Mustang just like I did with my last car,” Donnie adds.

As is the case with most of us, Donnie’s first mods were Eibach lowering springs, Maximum Motorsports caster/camber plates, and a UPR Products bumpsteer kit. Those mods greatly improved the car’s handling, so the next round of mods surrounded improving engine performance. Frank Soldridge from PSI Speed Solutions custom-tuned the car, also adding 4.10 gears, Steeda Autosports underdrive pulleys, and half a cold air intake from the air filter to the mass air meter. He also added Warlock mufflers, removing the two front catalytic converters in the process of giving the Cobra improved bark.

Donnie’s Cobra features an ABC Exclusives Cobra front bumper cover with a molded in spoiler, Roush side skirts, and a Saleen rear bumper. To make the most of the exterior upgrades, Keeler’s Auto Body added the two-tone paint using House of Kolors Candy Tangerine over the Cobra’s factory black paint. The dividing strip is Mineral grey. A set of Roush chrome wheels wrapped in Toyo treads finishes off the exterior.

The other underhood mods venture around the car show route he took with the car. Donnie added a UPR radiator cover and polished brake reservoir, a Tuff Stuff chrome alternator, a CJ Pony Parts stainless battery cover, a BBK chrome cold air intake, and he hand-polished a Canton radiator overflow tank. “I also had the factory strut tower brace painted silver,” Donnie says.
