NMRA’s Coyote Stock class is shaping up to be the next big thing in heads up Mustang drag racing. With the sealed crate engines taking engine builders out of the equation, winning comes down to car setup, and driver ability.
With the growing popularity of the class, has come the increased demand for the Ford Racing Parts Coyote Stock crate engine. This engine is only available through authorized Ford Racing parts dealers. Downs Ford Motorsports has been selling Ford Racing parts for pretty much as long as there’s been a Ford Racing catalog. We recently spoke with Rick Riccardi the Motorsport division manager who told us Coyote Stock engines are in high demand.
So we asked Riccardi why racers looking to build a Coyote Stock car should buy from Downs? He gave us several reasons. The first is pricing, it would seem there’s a price war going on and as such Riccardi has stopped publicly announcing prices on Coyote Stock crate engines, so serious inquiries only must be made by phone to get the Downs Ford price.
The second is availability, “We ship these direct from Ford Racing, if a customer pays that day, I will have Ford ship it that day. The only delay would be if Ford simply doesn’t have one on the shelf to ship,” says Riccardi. That means there’s no waiting for a warehouse or in-stock availability, if you’re serious about a Coyote Stock engine, Downs has you covered.
Service is another reason. A racer himself, Riccardi understands that racers often need parts quickly, and when ordering need to talk to someone who speaks the same language. Riccardi also tells us “We race NMCA, and if someone is coming to a race we’ll be at and has paid for their parts, if we can fit it in the trailer, we’ll bring it and there will be no shipping charge,” how’s that for service.
Downs is also running daily blowout sales “We buy truckloads of performance parts, and I advertise the sales on Facebook but you have to like the page to get the discount,” says Riccardi.
Whether you’re building a Coyote Stock race car, or just looking to upgrade your Mustang with some new parts be sure to like the Downs Ford Motorsports Facebook page, and give them a call when you’re ready to order.
