The Terminator Cobra satisfied the rally cries of Ford fans everywhere, delivering one of the most satisfying Mustangs in years. In fact former SVT boss and man behind the car, John Colletti says in his book Iron Fist, Lead Foot that the BOSS 429 was the bench mark for the Terminator. With 390 hp and 390 ft-lbs of torque on tap, mated to a Tremec six-speed transmission the Terminator was a force to be reckoned with.

Mustang fans are also familiar with the name Saleen. Known for working their magic on the 4.6 SOHC cars, and previously the ground shaking S351, not too many people realize that Saleen also built a limited number of Cobras. We recently came across a 2003 Saleen Cobra convertible as item number 281167590964 on eBay. Aside from the Cobra R or the final S351, this may be the ultimate Mustang from the New Edge era.

Saleen built just 11 Cobras in 2003, and this particular car is the only one in Zinc Yellow. Add to that the fact that just 319 total Zinc Yellow Cobra convertibles were built that year and you have a truly rare car. During this era Saleen upgraded the suspension, as well as the wheel and tire package, and of course added their signature aerodynamic and appearance package. The only external hints that this car is not the typical S281 are the Cobra badges on the sides, and the Terminator specific heat extractor hood.

This particular car has just 17,500 miles on the odometer. The seller claims the car is in showroom stock condition, although they do disclose that the engine has had a blower pulley upgrade, exhaust upgrade, and a custom tune. No specifics on what products, or how much power, but if we had to guess we’d say this one is likely putting low 400’s to the rear tires.

Buy it now is set at a steep $39,500, but considering that this car is from the heyday of Saleen performance vehicles, and the rarity of it being the only Zinc Yellow Saleen Cobra that year, let alone one of 11, it may have strong potential as a future collectible. Happy bidding!
