The NMRA is ready to start their season off with a BANG when the 23rd Annual NMRA Spring Break Shootout kicks off March 2-5th. Each year the Spring Break Shootout ushers in the season for the biggest all-Ford drag racing series in the world. The 2017 edition of the event is packed with new shootout classes, heads-up racing, and more. You can catch all the great Blue Oval racing in person at the event or live right here on SpeedVideo.com if you can’t make the trip to Bradenton.
One of the biggest classes at the Spring Break Shootout is the True Street category. This is where the street cars get to take center stage and show what they can do. Built into the True Street portion is the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout where the eight quickest True Street gear-bangers battle it out for a new TREMEC transmission. The Spring Break Shootout is another specialty race built into the True Street category. In this exciting race the fastest 16 True Street cars go head-to-head to see who’s king.
The Spring Break Shootout is filled with some of the biggest specialty classes that fans and racers love. Shelby GT500’s and ‘Terminator’ Cobra Mustangs line up in heads-up racing action during the Terminator/GT500 Shootout event. The Modular Xtreme class will be showing off some wicked-quick Modular and Coyote-powered Fords. Modular Xtreme has a simple set of rules and brings out both turbo and supercharged combinations to race.
Outlaw True Street will also be making an appearance at the event after its successful debut at the 2016 World Finals. These are some of the baddest street cars around that are so wild they don’t fit into the normal True Street class. If you like your Mustangs with a few less cylinders, the EcoBoost Battle is for you. This class features several of these boosted beasts with small displacement engines and lots of attitude! Rounding out the specialty classes is the Turbo Coyote Shootout — this class is nothing but boosted 5.0-liter Coyote monsters trying to see who’s the quickest on the property.
Besides all these great specialty classes, the familiar lineup of NMRA index and heads-up classes will be at Bradenton putting on a show. Fans will also get to see Street Outlaws stars Bobby Ducote and Chris ‘BoostedGT’ Hamilton tangle in a grudge race, along with a huge car show, burnout contest, and giant midway with over 60 vendors displaying their products. With all of this on tap, the 23rd Annual NMRA Spring Break Shootout has something for every Ford fan!
