While watching the ‘Tour de France’ on OLN the other night I observed a pretty cool commercial from Ford. The ad started out similar to one many of you have probably seen before – a father and his son are in an empty parking lot driving doing a burnout in their blue 2006 Mustang GT. It’s a pretty good commercial as is. However this time they flashed a menu on the bottom of the screen with a prompt to press the “Select” button on your Dish satellite network remote. Once you hit select the screen changes to an interactive set of screens where you can continue to select and view pictures of the new Mustang, the GT500, and other Ford vehicles. You can also request to receive by mail information and brochures on the featured Ford vehicles. The experience is very web-like but creative and a pleasant departure from Ford’s recent attempts to advertise through pop-culture. The “iTV” ads are currently limited to just Dish TV networks and are expected to run through the end of summer.
