We’ve brought you plenty of photos and videos of the 2015 Mustang prototype out for a drive. We’ve been wondering lately what the inside of the next pony car will look like as well. Some of that wait is over now as our friends at Mustang6g.com have once gain shared with us the latest spy shots of the what is rumored to be the new Shelby GT500/350 or SVT Cobra. Mustang6g is allowing us once again to share one of these photos and asks that you come by their site to check out the rest.
The first thing that sticks out is that the interior looks to share that same Mustang theme as always of a dual-cockpit design. While the gauges are covered we have little doubt the high-tech displays hiding behind that camo-cloth are similar in design to those of the current car, though we’d love to see the addition of a display style tach for increased accuracy.
Moving to the steering wheel we notice the large array of controls, no doubt many of them are for the Sync and My Ford Touch systems that will be available on just about every trim level of Mustang starting with the 2015 model year.
Mustang6g also has posted pics of the back seat and C-pillar area, where we notice a more stylish rear seat design that appears molded into the interior, rather than the flattish benches we’ve seen in years past. The C-pillar is also different, and the shape of the rear window appears to be smaller than the 2013-14 models.
The biggest news form the pictures though are what the steering wheel slightly obscures. Look closely and you’ll see paddle shifters. We’re hoping this is for a rear wheel drive version of Ford’s Powershift transmission, similar to what is used in the Focus and Fiesta, only much stronger, and that requires manual shifting. What we hope it’s not, is gimmicky shifters for an automatic transmission in an attempt to make a slushbox feel “sporty”.
Since full technical details have yet to be revealed we don’t yet know. But we’ll keep you posted as we hear more. For more interior photos as well as others on the upcoming S550 Mustang keep watching here, and head over to Mustang6g.com to check out the rest.
