This has to be one of the most horrific crashes we’ve seen involving a street-going Mustang in quite some time. Medina County, OH was the scene this morning, where two people were hurt in a two-car crash.
24-year-old Gregory Musichuk apparently lost control of his Mustang and crossed into the opposing lanes, crashing into a pickup truck driven by 55-year-old Gary Tharp. Musichuk was eventually lifeflighted to the hospital, as you might be able to deduce from the images – the front half of the car completely separated from the rear, leaving the passenger compartment in one place and the front end including engine – and the front seats, dashboard, wheels and tires – in a completely different spot. Tharp was injured, but his injuries are reported as non-life-threatening at this time.
It appears as if weather was a factor in the crash, leaving one to wonder just how bad the roads must have been at the time. The images show a relatively clear roadway, but it’s possible the driver hit a patch of black ice and skidded across the road. We have no idea whether speed was an issue, but the Mustang appears to be relatively stock, so it’s anyone’s guess. Just another warning to mind your manners on the roads at this time of year – black ice can creep up anywhere, at any time, and the entire country save for California and Florida appears to be in the grip of a pretty healthy winter.
It’s an incredible set of images, and we sincerely hope that Mr. Musichuk recovers quickly from his injuries.
