Roush Begins Taking Orders For The 2017 Stage 3 Mustang

The all-new 2017 RS3 Mustang may look the same as the previous year, but we have a feeling no one is complaining.

When the team at Roush Performance was tasked with the responsibility of improving on the already tried-and-true Stage 3 Mustang for the 2017 model year, they did not disappoint. Quite the contrary in fact, as we would say the team at Roush Performance have outdone themselves once again.

In an effort to deliver a more performance-oriented and less expensive package than previous model, the company has decreased the cost of owning one of its flagship RS3 Mustangs by providing enthusiasts with more options than ever — all without sacrificing any of the current amenities or performance. Roush has started taking orders for the all-new 2017 RS3 Mustang, and we’re going to provide you with the inside scope from the guys at Roush themselves.

Whether you choose the standard or the optional suspension on the all-new 2017 Roush Stage 3 Mustang, you'll have the confidence of knowing this car, with more than 670 Hellcat-vanquishing horsepower, can handle anything you throw at it thanks to a track-inspired handling package from Roush.

“For the 2017 Roush model, we have a few new appearance and handling options,” said Justin Schroeder, vice president of products for Roush Performance. “Similar to what Ford offers, Roush also offers a Black Package on its Roush Stage 3, which is a Jack Roush package. This is the first time Roush has offered a non-body colored spoiler with the package. Combining this with Roush’s new forged palladium wheel option (which is a dark grey wheel finish) gives enthusiasts a dramatic color combination we haven’t seen before.”

New for this year as well is Roush’s price-point. It’s an interesting discussion, as Roush has reached a new, lower price point different from its previous models. The company has made the move to build its vehicles from a lower-content Ford Mustang by using the 300A option package. “This will cut about $5,000 from the price of the base Roush Mustang,” Justin said. “Even when enthusiasts option out everything as normal on a RS3, they can still get into a Stage 3 now for anywhere between $5,200-$5,300 less based on retail pricing from Ford. That’s a significant decrease in the entry level price for an RS3 because we’re building from a 300A-package Mustang.”

The last Stage 3 Mustang offered from Roush Performance may have also boasted a rating of 670 horsepower. However, the all-new 2017 model comes in at a lower price, giving enthusiasts plenty of cash savings for more modifications.

He continued, “These savings transfer directly to the buyer. You don’t lose any of the Stage 3 content, and you still get a Roush TVS supercharger, beefier half-shafts, all of the exterior upgrades, and everything else. The only difference is our quad-tip exhaust, as it won’t fit on the rear-valance that the 300A car uses. If you want to option your RS3 with our quad-tip exhaust, we can build your RS3 off of a 400A-package Mustang like previously.”

“The quad-tip and the active exhaust are now optional for the first time, which were previously standard on the Roush stage 1, 2, and 3 models. For enthusiasts looking for exponential savings on a RS3, building one off of a 300A car and opting out of the quad-tip or active exhaust (a $2,500 option according to Roush) will save you over $7,500 off the price, yet retain all of the additional aforementioned content of a RS3.”

The R7 kit includes a unique front fascia with added aero pockets and a high-flow upper grille with an integrated RS3 badge, high-flow lower openings, a front chin splitter, and a pair of performance driving lamps.

Roush also said that optioning out your 300A-package car won’t be an issue, as the company can provide its own upgrades at anytime during the build process — including leather seats, additional performance, and more.

“The one-way adjustable suspension is now standard on the stage 2 Roush Mustang.” Justin said. He explained that the one-way adjustable suspension allows for ride height adjustment only, but that the entire setup is tuned using the exact same parameters as the TrakPak suspension which is optional on the Stage 3 model. We’ll let your mind wonder for now, as we’ll be covering the TrakPak suspension setup in detail in a future article.

“The 2017 Roush Stage 3 Mustang is a direct reflection of our culture at Roush Performance,” Justin said. “Our people are passionate about creating the high-performance lifestyle. We live it, and want to enable our customers to live it as well.”

We couldn’t agree more with the awesome staff at Roush. It’s dedication such as this that will really resonate with owners of the latest Roush RS3 Mustang, and it shows.
