The long wait is almost over in just a matter of weeks the latest Mustang will gallop out of the factory and onto dealer lots across the country. That means enthusiasts will soon have the chance to begin modifying the next-gen pony car. As we learned recently, the calibrations are available and now, thanks to Steeda Autosports, plenty of 2018 Mustang parts are on the way for those who are ready to start modding.

“Steeda has announced, and made available, a vast list of performance upgrades to order at Job 1,” says the company. “Eager customers taking delivery of the first new 2018 Mustangs in just over a few weeks have plenty of options from Steeda to choose from.”

The list of 2018 upgrades developed by Steeda includes cold air intake kits (PN 555-3220), lowering springs, sway bars, and a full complement of IRS upgrades. With new features like a dual-fuel system and an optional magnetically adjustable shocks and struts, the new Mustang required new parts development.

“The most noteworthy challenges was just making sure we developed parts that meet our quality and fitment standards,” Glen Vitale, Vice President of Operations at Steeda Autosports, explained. “With the revised hood, fenders, and bumper we needed to re-engineer items like our cold air intake. In addition the new shock and struts would require us to revise some of our suspension offerings that will soon be released.”

Fortunately Steeda has a long history with the S550 platform so the company was able to easily pivot on developing and tweaking parts for the revised Mustang.

“Just like other platforms we are very focused on making sure the parts we develop complement what Ford has already done in order to work as a system to deliver maximum potential from both the powertrain and suspension,” Glen said.

As the new Mustang arrives at dealerships, the Steeda parts will be hitting the market as well, which is great news for those hot to start modding.

Much like its parts for the 2015-2017 (shown here), Steeda will roll out a full complement of bolt-ons for the 2018+ Mustangs. The company has thus far teased cold-air intakes and suspension upgrades that will hit the market around the same time as the new Mustang hits dealer lots.

“Our cold air intake has been designed to work with the 2018’s factory computer and requires no tune,” Glen said. “This kit will be available on our website mid-October. Some of our suspension parts are already available for the new car and others will be rolling out in December.”

Though the development is still ongoing it sounds like there are big things to come from the company’s gear, particularly from the pairing of its induction and custom calibration.

“You can expect some big horsepower numbers from this platform once our tuning department finishes development on a tune with our intake,” Glen teased. “You can also expect handling characteristics unmatched by any preceding Mustang with this new platform.”
