Are you hyped for the forthcoming new Bronco from Ford? We bet you are. There is even a baby Bronco coming. However, as cool as these new versions might be, it will be tough for them to top a 1973 Bronco that underwent a 1,500-hour restoration and is now motivated by a Ford Performance Coyote 5.0-liter crate engine.
To build a truly complete restomodded vehicle, you need to put an intense amount of work… — Brandon Segers, Velocity Restorations
“I’ve seen many restomodded Broncos built in 90 days or less and I could never understand how they are completed so quickly until I saw them up close,” Brandon Segers, Co-Owner of Velocity Restorations, said. “To build a truly complete restomodded vehicle, you need to put an intense amount of work and man hours into it. There are no shortcuts in this industry.”
To reimagine these off-road crawlers, Velocity puts together a six-page detailed build plan that outlines all the modifications (see sidebar for the example pictured here). Then its team puts 300 hours into repairing the rust and metal, another 550 hours into the paint and bodywork, and 600 more hours into the mechanical work. Along the way they document the whole process in photos, so the new owner will get weekly updates over the course of the build.
Of course, this level of work doesn’t come at bargain-bin prices. If you want a classic Brono restomod like this one, it will set you back $229,000. Yup, it’s a six-figure classic machine, but we can’t argue with the results. If this is in your budget, you can visit the company’s official site here to get more details.
