It’s no F-150 Lightning, but….

F-150 HarleyIn the absence of an SVT Lightning, the the 450 horsepower supercharged Ford Harley Davidson is the next best thing. The supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission delivers 450 horsepower and 500 pounds-feet of torque.

Born from tremendous customer reaction to the F-150 performance truck concept that was on display at the November 2006 SEMA show, the supercharged F-150 packs the extra power punch that Ford truck enthusiasts have been demanding.

The supercharged Harley Davidson F-150 is available in Ebony Black or Dark Amethyst with plenty of gleaming chrome, 22-inch oversized wheels and tires, and a custom scalloped stripe that runs along the beltline that creates a glued-to-the-ground appearance. “Harley-Davidson” script runs along the bedside in three-dimensional chrome letters. Blacked-out headlamps and a unique chrome billet grille give it a distinctive, bold front-end.

Among other highlights:

* The SALEEN supercharger option is available through Ford dealers for $6500 MSRP. Base F-150 Harley-Davidsonâ„¢ pricing starts at $37,210 MSRP including $925 destination and delivery.

* The twin-screw supercharger is the same style as the one in the Shelby GT-500.

* A dual-stage water-to-air intercooler increases the supercharger’s efficiency and adds performance by cooling the intake air.

* The volume from the exhaust is cranked up into a sustained growl. (Editors note: Five bucks to anyone who knows what the heck this means?)

* An available gauge pod with boost (PSI) and air-charge temperature (ACT) gauges monitors the system’s performance.

The 2007 Harley-Davidson F-150 truck is the ninth model to emerge from a Ford/Harley-Davidson partnership that began in 1999. The co-branding of the two storied 104-year-old companies has proven to be a successful formula with total sales of Ford F-Series Harley-Davidsonsâ„¢ of more than 60,000 units.

  4. this truck is going to be huge…if u dont believe me wait till aftermarket parts hit this truck…the srt-10 will stand no chance

  5. Dear Al
SRTs’ spanking lightnings all day long? Ya gots 2b a mushroom cause someones been feeding you s–t and keeping you in the dark. SRT stands for “sled rated truck”

  6. Hey Steve, the SRT will spank the lightning all day long, unless of course you’ve thrown a ton of money into it. Plus they are ugly. Even a stock Vette(non Z06) will spank the gt 500. Sad.

  7. WHEN WILL FORD GET RID OF THOSE CRAPPY PEDDLES.THE RUBBER TEARS OUT IN LESS THAN A YEAR. ALSO DUMP THE COLOR OF THE STRIPE ITS TOO CLOSE TO PINK.

  8. Dr. Sekelsky,
I have been to too many drag races and seen too many SRT 10 turds have their asses handed to them by Lightnings, think twice before making stupid statements.

  9. la f150 harley davison sobrealimentada llegara a mexico

  10. still won’t beat an srt-10

  11. Might be my next truck to tow my Cobra with. It can tow right? However I am waiting to see what changes are in store and will not buy till 2010.

  12. I would think about buying one if it didnt have Harly-
Davidson all over it. This might be the fastest thing ever
built with the H-D logo!! And I will bet you this dosent leak any oil !! Be gone with the badge and sighn me up!!!

  13. Bet its a lot of fun to drive. Wish they had more of a Lightning truck, short cab with that power. I bet it gets horrible gas mileage too. the lack of forged internals is a little bit scary. I kind of wonder if a lot of trucks and performance vehicles are going to get dumped on lots like the early 70’s when the gas crisis hit?

  14. So, all the Ford and car magazines were wrong by calling it a screw type, that figures…
I’d say, loose the blower, and stick on some twin turbos, that would be more efficient, but you would loose that SICK blower whine.

  15. Using the stout cast-iron, 5.4-liter Triton V-8 as a starting point, the Shelby GT500 employs a Roots-type 8.5-pounds-per-square-inch Eaton supercharger and water-to-air intercooler to help it produce a broad torque band on its way to making a stout 480 foot-pounds.—-This is from Ford’s website. When Ford uses the Eaton’s, they are roots. Whipple, Kenne Bell and a few others make twin screw but as far as I know, Eaton still doesn’t. It is too bad because twin screws are more efficient and create less heat output because they compress the air internally rather than forcing it to compress against the cylinder walls.

  16. Pretty badass… now if it came in a 4×4 option and downsize those 22’s to something more useable like an 18…

  17. Chris,

The Shelby GT500 (which I have) has a roots blower, Not a twin screw like the GT (supercar) has, There is a difference. Not that I am complaining about the roots. Im happy with the “go” peddle I have. ;-)

  18. Why is Ford so anti-manual transmission? Only the V6 F150 comes w/ stick and the chance Ford has to mate stick w/ a V8 and they blow it. Another performance vehicle shoved w/ automatic.

  19. Yes it does, the GT500 does have a screw-type roots blower. The same blower and engine as the Ford GT supercar.

Are you thinking of the Shelby Mustang? The 4.6 3V Shelby with the performance upgrade (exhaust, CAI, tune, “badge and decal package”, etc.)

But, it is too bad Ford won’t make the Lightning, and won’t put a blower on at the factory.

  20. WRONG!! The GT500 does’nt have a twin screw.

Too bad Ford is’nt offering the SC from the factory.

  21. Sustained growl - The throttle return spring is missing :D

A friend of mine has an 06 F150 HD and its a nice truck. Beautiful interior and its pretty damn good looking. The only thing he wishes it had was more power. Its nice to see this is available now, and i look forward to the 09 with alot of optimism.

  22. So, they “cranked up the volume” of the already pansy sounding exhaust, so it actually SOUNDS like you have something to brag about…BRILLIANT!!! Who would have thunk it? It’s about time for made a supercharged 5.4 3V truck.
