We doubt this car will ever be made, but it is cool nonetheless. Ford Motor Co. introduced the Ford Interceptor concept at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The Interceptor is equipped with a manual six-speed transmission mated with a Ford Racing 5.0-liter V8 Cammer engine that delivers 400 hp running on E85. The Interceptor is rear-wheel driven, and features a short front overhang, long rear overhang and extended dash-to-axle ratio. The vehicle also has a low cabin and higher beltline.
The concept does in fact feature some signature Ford touches, including the horizontal three-bar grille. The engine sits under a clamshell “shaker†hood. The Cammer modular engine that powered Ford Racing’s FR500C race car to the top of the Grand Am Cup’s GS class. The Interceptor is Mustang-based, sits on 22-inch wheels, and is equipped with a solid rear axle.

The interior features black leather and metal finishes, with leather-wrapped dash, headliner and steering wheel. Four low-back bucket seats are wrapped in thick black leather with exposed-edge seams and contrasting caramel stitching. Squircles, or professionally square circle-shaped graphics, can be seen inside and out, including on door trims, the floor, console and instrument panel. The seats are accented with Ford GT-inspired squircle grommets that are finished with Titan Metal painted inserts.
The Interceptor incorporates Ford’s patented four-point “belt and suspenders†safety belts in all four seats, as well as inflatable seat belts in the rear. Ford has been studying the potential of these safety belt systems as possible ways to further reduce injury risk in vehicle crashes.

By chris d. July 19th, 2008 at 7:49 pmI like this car, its classy powerful, its standard. I have to agree with my man Gary Chance, if yall don’t step up your game you might and up loosing all your fans. My three personal favorites are the 05 mustange GTR, the GT-40, and the shelby cobra, I also like the F-150 King Ranch. Iwish to own these cars in the near future. Graduating from school I want to work with SVT.
By Jorge Rivera. June 26th, 2008 at 6:15 amI only have four words for Ford - BUILD THE FRICKIN’ CAR!!!
By Mike. June 9th, 2008 at 11:34 amYou CEO’S, projects managers, Chair man, who ever you are’ and who or whom are in charge of what concept get produce. I would love to know why you guys are so mushy and soft and afraid to dive off the high board and build a serious four door rear drive contender. “E-mail me”……… Chrysler been stealing Ford styles from ever since just look at the Charger and Challenger”…….., and they are just running you guys into the ground slowl, and GM is right behind them to do you guys in; The Mustang alone can’t do it, what are you guys going to do. (Change the grille and build the damn thing). “how about a four door drop top while you think about it, “hu”. Chrysler or GM doesn’t have one at this time. Are you going to wait for them to build one first then you do what you always do’ build a concept and wave it in front of our face like a trainer waving carrots in front a rabbit, “hu”, you guys are making me real upset with you all’ and the bad part about this is, it’s not just me, just look at your feedback from Ford lovers.
By Gary Chance. May 3rd, 2008 at 12:01 pmthey better build that car! or i will have to disown ford for ever!
By mike. April 8th, 2008 at 6:56 ambuild it you ding batts this car is crazy awesome love it

By Abhinav. March 27th, 2008 at 2:25 amthis car looks tough but will it ever repalce the reliability of the crown vic. i am in law enforcement and i would like the chance to see. i think ford needs to beef up their patrol vehicles or dodge is going to run their butt in the ground. i like the idea of a ford with more power and room so lets see the interceptor on the road. last but not least how would it look to se ethe POLICE ROLLIN ON DUBS
By anonymous. March 23rd, 2008 at 7:12 pmthis is a nice car in deed. The 300 and charger can go to the junk yard, this is the new K.O.S. King of Streets
By Matthew Brown. March 20th, 2008 at 3:45 pmThis car has the possiblitly to save ford. Ford needs to build this car I refuse to buy anything thats not a Ford. I get dissappointed everytime I see a cop car thats not a crown vic. This car is a BEAST. I would buy one!!
By Greg. February 29th, 2008 at 8:17 amFord - take the chance and build this vehicle. Forget the bean counters and go with the gut on equipping this beast - it will practically sell itself. Front grill too much - everything else is incredible!
By Mike. November 30th, 2007 at 8:49 pmI was brought up in a ford house hold my father worked for ford dearborn assemble plant for 21yrs before retiring. Ford is the real thing, don’t just build concepts use your own word and be BOLD put this car in the show room soon GM and Chrysler are not holdem up. Build this car as is and watch it push u to the top. Bold Moves BE BOLD BUILD THIS CAR ……MOTOR CITY
By B.Max. November 27th, 2007 at 2:30 pmIt doesn’t look too bad .. but I doubt that Ford is smart enough to put it into production ..
Non the less .. Ford Sucks …. I Hate IT.

By VICTOR DEVILE. November 21st, 2007 at 1:14 amI LOVE FORD IVE A EXPEDITION 03 IM PLANING TO BY A NEW ONE FORD AND I FALL IN LOVE FOR THIS MONSTER AND I PROMESS IF FORD DOESNT BUILT IT ILL GO TO AMERICA AND DO IT BY MY SELF MODIFYING THE 300C AND A 07 MUSTANG .
LONG LIVE THE FORD
FORD IS THE BEST
I LOVE the way this car looks. I am a ford man through and through. At the first of this year I bought the 2007 ford Mustang, and I am in love with my car. I work for a police department and we have Crown Vics and a Dodge Charger. The Crown Vic is still my all time favorite, but the Charger has its benefits. I feel that the new Ford Interceptor can and will rival Dodge and the Chevy. The new Ford interceptor would be an excellent patrol vehicle, all that it would need is for a big block engine and racket pinion steering like the mustang and this car could be unstoppable. Although we all know that Dodge and Chevy will come back with something to try to beat it, but there is a reason that ford has dominated in police vehicles. The old Crown Vic is an aged war horse that has shown us time and time again that it has what it takes to stay in the competitive race, but it’s time to rejuvenate the old and come out with the new. So come on ford build this beast slap a police package in it and stand back and watch it take off. I promise that you won’t regret it.
By Brad Vanover. October 17th, 2007 at 7:25 pmit would be a good looking car for the cop cars
By Harris. October 16th, 2007 at 10:47 amI am the biggest FORD guy around and I would love for Ford to build this car….I by one if it came out…I am also tired of hearing that Chevy and Dodge are faster and stronger….i would love for FORD to build a truck or car with some serious b!@#!……..By the way i got the Ford Fusion just becuase I am a huge Matt Kenseth fan go 17…..and i love the way the fusion looks…i love the grill….on the car…..and the Interceptor looks awsome…FORD big wigs….get off your a@# and be BOLD LIKE YOUR DAM COMMERCIALS……GEES FOR ONCE…..
By juan. October 11th, 2007 at 6:30 pmIt could be built, but not as an Interceptor with four doors. Lengthen the chasse, loose the two back doors and put the Thunderbird name on it. Now drop in the 427 CID V12 (based on the 3.5L V6) to make it a real Thunderbird. Now change the rear tail light styling. Lights all the way across the back will let everyone know that they have been passed by the best T-Bird to ever grow wings. Now change the profile at the front to that of a 1963 Thunderbird so that it looks fast waiting for the light to change.
By Charlie. October 6th, 2007 at 6:46 amI agree that Ford is mimicked, (volvo and landrover influence can’t do any harm) and chased often in coming back in the muscle department; and has always had deep racing background, respectable in the least. But now a daze mustangs are (no insult intended) lonely… Ford needs the Interceptor. I was witness to a simple 2006 5.4 stage 2 mustang absolutely spank a 2006 Dodge Hemi Charger by 5.5 car lengths in the quarter mile. Granted the stage 2 had minor 15 HP uprade in exhaust and decals and standard tranny - it was driven by a pensil pushing accountant that can’t shift… Anyway… Mustang needs a Mate. Whomever is out there, now is the time. go ford go
By howard b.. September 14th, 2007 at 11:58 pmLooks like a grand slam for Ford! I love all the details. Some of you commenters probably don’t realize it, but many of the vehicles on the road today are copies of Ford innovation. I see Ford concept car parts in many gm and chrysler products that are on the road now. Ford made a retro Mustang that is very successful, and now who is bringing back a formerly failed camaro? Look at the Ford ‘Tonka’ concept, and try and tell me chebby didn’t steal a few styling cues from that design for their 2008 trucks!? It makes me sick. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but I think it is plagiarism, slander, and THEFT. Ford has always led the way, and always will.
By Mark. September 3rd, 2007 at 8:40 pmFord stuck their necks out on the Ford GT, and it became a world-class supercar as a result. (I have seen 1100 hp versions with no internal engine mods from stock) I know of Viper and corvette owners who have switched camps because of that car… I think it is time to stick that neck out again, with a car of this impressive look, and with a mighty powerplant to compliment it. The 427 SOHC was a nice touch to a Fairlane; Let’s see more of that, and we will buy! Might be in limited numbers, but Ford needs to remind everyone once in a while who’s BOSS.
Sweeeet!!! Big and bold, 2 things not commonly heard of together now a days… With all the muscle cars coming back this car should help Ford get to the top of the heap. The 300 looks like a cheap Rolls Royce, this car looks like a new Ford! More options such as the V-10 or Shelby GT SVT motors would be nice. PLEASE BUILD THE INTERCEPTOR! The only problem with this car is the grill - it looks too Chevy…
By Howard B.. August 4th, 2007 at 11:52 amThis car is the dream of my (’08) year and I really would like to cruise the coast in this next summer. Don’t allow none sense people to ruin this car for the rest of us who so choose to keep this in our plans and profile of nice gear. This is the finest car I’ve seen in forever so please don’t spoil my dream!!!! The grill’s absolutely perfect!
By Leslie Walker. July 26th, 2007 at 12:34 amI seen the Ford Inteceptor in peson I wished I could have drove away in that day. So, I think this car could be great investment to start putting this car into production. But please chang the interior and keep the grill. The Ford Intercept make the 300 and Charger look like like toys and there is no comparisons.
By DeSean J. Morris. July 23rd, 2007 at 5:50 amGreat looks, except for the grill, stay with one set of lights. Put the 5.4 32v cobra engine with lincoln badging and call it the MARK IX!
By JOHN. July 20th, 2007 at 5:45 amThis looks nothing like a 300. The only things that might be simular are the waide/ low body and low greenhouse.
This is the most beautyful car i’ve ever seen. I was going to buy a new caddy in 2008 but not if this car is out!
Since Consumer Reports has put out the 07 buying guide, i believe ford is making a turnaround in its quality issues. Anyone read the article about the new CEO taking engineers to consumer reports and handing out pads and pencils? Great stuff.
BTW - Ford is the most underated stock at less than $9.00 per share! Prepare for the great american comeback!
By J B. July 20th, 2007 at 4:56 amIt is a beautiful car. But when?
By Pier P Ruzzi. July 14th, 2007 at 6:15 pmLooks like Robocop and that’s not a compliment. Lose that stupid grill. The rest looks good.
By iryshman. June 25th, 2007 at 4:53 pmThis is a great looking concept car and the reason it would do well is because it is unique looking, even though it has some resemblance to the 300. The only problem is that by the time it ever saw production it would be so watered down that you would not be able to distinguish it from a Honda unless you were really looking. Ford is too cautious with their styling and the sales are declining because of it. Also, the lag time from design to production will always keep them out of touch with the public’s taste.
By Mark. June 17th, 2007 at 12:26 pmno matter how you look at it all these companies are gonna build vehicles off same base models. sure this car looks similar to a 300 but a 300 and an imperial are cheap imitations bentlys and royles royces
By chrysler. June 14th, 2007 at 12:03 pmFord this the most HOTTEST car in 2008!!!!…You all really design this car with percision…..nice car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Please build this car!!!>!….This is the future of 2008 the Ford Interceptor!!…..This car is unique~~
By Ty. June 13th, 2007 at 9:18 pm300C’s are gay.. this ford might look like it but if dey do it is gona be better because Ford is the BEST…you are what you drive and i drive FORD………………im looking foward to get my hands on a 69 mustang fastback
By Jerry. May 23rd, 2007 at 5:40 amI thought I was the only one who thought it looks like a 300c but I guess not I just love my 300c I guess ford is copying chrysler once again ever sence ford fired Lee Iacocca in the late 70’s they have regreted it and they have copyed chrysler a lot now with chrysler going ahead with making the Imperial in late 2008 early 2009 and redoing the 300 for 2009 ford is trying to match chrysler once again but when the imperial comes out ford will be in big trouble!!!
By John. April 30th, 2007 at 2:31 pmPlease ford if your ever going to listen to your customers nows the time. Build this car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m A HUGE mustang fan I have a 67′ and plan on buying an 08 in jan. But this car could make me reconsider and get it instead. So to quote a great movie “IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME”……..
By Jason P.. April 29th, 2007 at 6:48 amits a 300C with a ford grill!!!!
By mincks. April 28th, 2007 at 1:56 pm[…] El Ford Interceptor Concept se trata de un sedán de cuatro puertas, que se basa en la plataforma del Ford Mustang y dispone de la parrilla central del pickup Super Chief. […]
By » Ford Interceptor Concept - Espacio coches. April 23rd, 2007 at 11:27 amFord,I’m hoping you are listening!! This vehicle needs to be built if you want to keep your customers. We (Ford customers) are constantly looking for performance, looks, style, etc. and I think you need to turn your face it that direction. I have only owned FORD and my entire family is FORD only. My grandfather was a master mechanic for FMC and it is in our blood, but for the past few years, FORD has not perked my interests at all and almost made the decision to look towards other vehicle avenues. I have owned 5 Ford Mustangs and currently restoring my 1992 and 1993 mustang back to factory original condition to prevent from buying the junk you (Ford) are putting out in the dealers. This new Ford Interceptor actually perks me up and would be interested in actually seeing one in person and maybe driving it. The 5.0 cammer motor and 6 speed are a good idea and I promise you the customers are gonna want to add aftermarket exhaust and power adders (superchargers and/or turbo chargers). This could very well also be the answer to getting the police agencies back as customers. I’m seeing more chevy and dodge police cruisers and no Ford police cars. Please listen to your fellow Ford customers and start leaving a ‘BOLD’ statement.
By TexasRoadRanger. April 21st, 2007 at 6:32 pmI really like this car. i mean ford hasnt had a large muscle car sence the deminish of the t bird in the 90s and fords atympt at bring it back as a retro sports car with a v6 crashed and burned and with the only car with a v8being the mustang and current crown vic. i think this car could be somthing. as for a mercury coogar being a higher class car that would be a great idea. i would love to own a car like this. ford dosnt have enough cars that pack a powerhouse v8 such as this one ulike dalmer crysler which seams to put a v8 in almost everything and chevy reintruducing the 09 camaro. on another note i beleve this car would look better and sound better with a good set of duel exaust and a hood scoop.
By brian. April 9th, 2007 at 7:04 amFrom an owner of 2 Grand Marquis (05, 06), a Crown Victoria (03), and a Marauder (03). I would buy one of these in each color available, the only problem is it will be down-styled if it ever reaches production. Ford needs to be “bold” as they say they are and build this car. It’s either be Bold now, or be extinct.
By Josh. March 24th, 2007 at 2:04 pmWell it’s about time. The 500 interested me until I talked to some people who had one and said it was well put together but boring. This is just what ford needs. Although I would have a FWD or AWD option for us folks just south of Canada.
By Brian. March 12th, 2007 at 6:18 ami say build it with atleast a 360hp 5.4 and available manual trans. aslo allow for performance packages of upwards to 550 or more hp. 4v5.4 or even a 4v v10
By outsider. March 6th, 2007 at 5:39 pmFord need to build something like this car to compete with thd 300. I love Fords; but I need more power and not just in a Mustang.
By Scott. March 4th, 2007 at 7:17 pmThe rear tail light design is almost reminiscent to a ‘65-’68 Galaxie 500. That really caught my attention concidering about a year ago I had designed a “What If” of a NEW Ford Galaxie 500 (not a more door perfomance grocery getter like the new mopars, but a reincarnated two door hard top muscle machine born in the 60’s). Wierd though, the Interceptor and my design share a few styling characteristics. Maybe I should design for Ford!
By silver. February 15th, 2007 at 7:52 amyou no i love the crown vic. intercepter. so i will be interested to see how this one wood do. i wood love to see ford come out with some older cars like the fairline thunderbird.
By josheld2002. February 10th, 2007 at 1:13 pm[Yawn] Could be a nice production vehicle if it wasn’t for Ford’s quality issues. Potential defects include wiring harness in the steering column shorting out and bursting into flames (found in various models), spitting out the spark plugs because the heads weren’t originally threaded far enough, maybe some issues with the gas tank exploding, or maybe just chewing up some alternators because they think that the bottom of the engine compartment is a good place to put it (especially under that oil leaking Detroit vibrator). Just for the nostalgia they should use one of the old Holley carburetors with the canvas accelerator pump on the side of the unit, below the fuel level so that after the canvas wears through, the carb will dump gas onto the intake manifold.
By Dude. January 30th, 2007 at 6:02 pmIt looks like a Cougar in the same way a Corvette looks like a 747. No thanks.
By Chad. January 25th, 2007 at 11:35 pmThat would make for a good Mercury Cougar Come back.
By Trikar. January 21st, 2007 at 12:18 pmWhen this comes to market I would expect it recieve IRS. Can you say “control blade”?
Its more then obvious the interior will not be what is shown.
By Wildo. January 20th, 2007 at 6:42 amI would also look for it to be offered with the 6.2L Boss engine in the nieghborhood of 425hp. Toss in a 6spd auto and you’ve got sex on wheels!
They do have a 2-door version, it’s the Mustang (built on same platform). Throw in a 4V 5.4 and call it a Galaxy 500. It’d be a great car for Lincoln though since the Town Car needs replacing.
By bassman97. January 19th, 2007 at 6:56 pmkinda looks like Chrysler’s 300…awesome car nonetheless…id buy it for sure.
By frank. January 19th, 2007 at 3:58 pmBUILD THIS CAR FORD, BUILD MANY!!!!! This will beat all the hot Dodge and Chrysler sedans out in my opinion, not to mention any Asian competition (lame). As they have done, badge it with retro names and functional items unique to Ford’s past. But don’t stop there, how bout a 2 door?
By Josh. January 19th, 2007 at 3:12 pmWOW, now if the performance matched the looks it would be the ticket, I could see the twin turbo, 6.0 hurricane engine under the hood, 6 speed manual tranny, or juiced up 5 speed auto, nice two speed diff, and allot of tickets. But since this is a dream Ford won’t build it — Look what they did to the gut less T-bird
