Nigerian Ford Fusion Scam

Actually the email scam has been linked back to Europe, but clearly has the flavor of the Nigerian Prince emails that are symbolic of the internet scam industry. The scammers do get some kudos from us in that they are at least up on current events – capitalizing on not only the recent “green” craze, but also using the long anticipated Ford Fusion Hybrid as bait. Nonetheless, $15K for a Fusion that has a real market price well into the $30’s, is enough of a red flag, let alone the fishy monthly automated bank withdrawal. For the record, Gary Settles is indeed associated with Ford – a manager at a Kentucky Ford dealership. He however is not the originator of this scam, his name obviously being used without permission.
