Over 160 Fox Mustangs Gathered For A Cruise At Mustang Week 2018

If you are a fan of 1979-1993 Mustangs, there is a gathering you have to check out. Early Saturday morning of Mustang Week 2018 over 160 Fox Mustangs came together for this special event. In its 12th year, the Fox Mustang cruise drew many cars down to the beach just for the cruise. after coming together, the group headed for the official Mustang Week Cruise-In festivities at the convention center.

Considered by many Fox Mustang loyalists as the highlight of the week, it is also one of the longest-running unofficial events. While other unofficial events have come and gone over the years at Mustang Week, the Fox cruise stands the test of time and continues to draw over 100 Foxes each year.

Southeastern Foxbodies co-founder and longtime member Johnny Detamore led the 2018 cruise in his heavily modified blue 1985 Ford Mustang. The car features a Mercury Capri front clip, Capri rear fenders, a custom T-top roof and a 4.6-liter modular engine swap among other custom touches. The cruise left Tire Town USA and made its way, via police escort, to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center where all the cruise participants pull into a side entrance and parked together right beside the Ford Motor Company display.

Presented by the Southeastern Foxbodies Club this cruise takes participants on a police-escorted half-hour journey from highway 501 just on the other side of the intercoastal waterway all the way to the show field at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Over 100 Mustangs of any kind is an impressive sight to see cruising down the highway, but over 100 Foxes a true rarity that onlookers in the know won’t soon forget. As such, the cruise is often met with spectators along the route awaiting a glimpse of the pack powering past.

If you have never checked out this event and you love Fox Mustangs, it is a must. For information on the 2019 edition of the cruise, be sure and check out the Southeastern Foxbodies official site here.

One of the coolest draws of this Fox Mustang cruise is the variety of cars that it attracts. Foxes of all shapes, sizes, and conditions are welcome. It is always great to see cars in various states of restoration at the cruise only to see them back the following year in pristine condition. Above is a nice mix of three Foxes showing a work in progress, a drag car, and an original four-eye car. That’s just a small taste of the variety the cruise draws.
