If you want to stop us in our trade-show tracks, put a massive Ford engine on display. This Edelbrock-equipped beauty did just that. Built by BES Engines, this small-block Ford is stroked to 462 cubic inches using just about every component you can think of that Edelbrock offers.
This engine is just showing what customers do with our product. — Smitty Smith, EdelbrockFrom the top down, it features the company’s 4500 series carburetor and Glidden Victor intake manifold, which will work with two of Edelbrock’s cylinder head packages. However, on the BES small-block, it featured SC-1 Pro-Port cylinder heads, which are ported in-house by BES to support more than 950 horsepower.
BES recommends its fully ported and dressed SC-1 heads for large-displacement racing applications and those running “a serious amount of nitrous.” They report that the heads flow over 450 cfm at 1 inch of valve lift, so they can definitely move a serious amount of air as well.
“This engine is just showing what customers do with our product,” Smitty Smith, Technical Sales Coordinator at Edelbrock, told us. “Our cylinder head and our manifold is a nice combination for this type of deal.”
