DeatschWerks has been developing direct fit, high performance fuel system components for late model vehicles for a number of years. Having recently entered the muscle car market the company is offering a variety of products for the late model muscle and domestic performance crowd.
At SEMA DeatschWerks was showing their first external fuel pump the DW300iL. Flowing 350 liters per hour at 40 psi, and 13.5 volts. DeatschWerks president David Deatsch tells us, “What’s special about this pump is that it maintains it’s flow at high pressure really well. It uses a rotary vane pumping system, and we chose that specifically because it’s able to handle higher pumping pressures.”
The pump is setup to accept -08 AN fittings on the inlet and outlet sides, a ridge built into the body of the pump is designed to allow this pump to fit into the same fuel surge tanks as the Bosch 044 pumps lending further flexibility to this pump. “We incorporate that ridge into the design so the pump is compatible with Bosch 044 surge tanks,” says Deatsch.
High Flow GDI Fuel Injectors
Since direct injection first started making it’s way into higher performance engines a few years ago, a large part of the puzzle for tuning and producing more power has been fuel systems. Engines like the popular Ford 3.5 EcoBoost are limited by the capability of their fuel stock system can handle safely.
DeatschWerks is developing a set of gasoline GDI injectors, with the first to be released being specifically for the Ford 3.5 EcoBoost. Due out sometime in the first quarter of 2014, these injectors offer 1,700cc per minute fuel flow, according to Deatsch this is approximately 30 percent more flow than stock, and should give tuners more room to push the output of the popular twin-turbo Ford six-cylinder.
Like all DeatschWerks injectors these will be built as drop in replacements, in the case of the injector for the 3.5 it’s built around the Bosch H-Dev injector design. DeatschWerks, “We’re doing final in-car product testing and validation right now, and when this comes out this will be the first high flow GDI injector on the market.”
The DeatschWerks GDI injectors will offer a major tuning and upgrade tool for GDI engines, and should pave the way for even more performance from a style of engine that is the future of high performance.
