Ford Racing brought out a few parts to show us at the 2013 SEMA show, both new and previously seen parts were on display, as well as a host of cool rides. We even took a few minutes to take a ride with Ford GRC rally drivers Ken Block, and Tanner Foust in front of the Central Hall at the Las Vegas convention center.
Among parts that Ford was showing off to customers were their handling packs, like M-FR3A-MGTAA* which includes new sway bars, assembled front struts and springs, adjustable rear shocks, rear springs, sway bars, sway bar links, bushings, adjustable panhard bar, and more. Additionally these kits include the appropriate replacement hardware that Ford Racing’s Jesse Kershaw tells us is often overlooked by enthusiasts doing suspension upgrades, “Our kits include all the one time use fasteners that you should replace when doing these upgrades, but many enthusiasts forget to, or no one tells them they should.” Having everything together in one package offers cost and time savings when enthusiasts are upgrading their suspension as a system sourcing all the parts in one place rather than trying to piece everything together.
Another popular product for Ford Racing right now is the new Z460 crate engine. Rated at 575 hp, and 575 ft-lbs, this naturally aspirated beast is finding it’s way into a variety of vehicles. Kershaw told us this is especially popular with the resto-mod and Cobra replica crowd, because the engine delivers excellent power, and that old-school muscle car thump from it’s big cam with 242/248 duration at 0.50, and 5.94/6.18 lift .
Showing for the first time at SEMA this year is a cold air intake system designed for the new Ford Racing Cobra Jet intake manifold that was introduced late last year as part number M-9424-M50CJ for Coyote engines. Designed to offer those upgrading to the high output manifold with a matching air intake solution, until now using this intake required a custom or other brand intake system, but no longer.
Kershaw promised us more exciting parts at the upcoming PRI show, so we’ll have to wait until next month to see what they are.
