As the Chicago Auto Show rapidly approached, details of cars revealed surfaced like corks in seawater. The show opened for Media preview bright and early Wednesday morning and the big guns unloaded their news first. Smaller companies in particular, favor the Chicago and New York shows for making introductions, simply because the signal to noise ratio is more favorable.
Shelby American announced they will reveal the new 2012 Shelby GT350 Mustang at 2:30 pm CST on Wednesday. The Shelby GT350 was first revealed last year, so it will be interesting to see what Shelby President John Luft and Test Driver Gary Patterson have to say about the updated model.
The company also offered a limited number of people complimentary access to the announcement, via the Shelby American and Team Shelby web sites. Those lucky folks that scored access will be afforded the same access as media, leaving them free to take photos, to blog from the show floor and to meet the various Shelby executives attending.
The Shelby GT350 is a post title conversion package for the 2011 Ford Mustang GT. With chassis upgrades, a restyled exterior and enhanced interior, the GT350 also offers several performance options, including a supercharged version that delivers 550 hp.
Current pricing starts at $26,995 for the normally aspirated version, and $33,995 for the supercharged GT350. Cost of the base Mustang GT is additional.
