2015 Ford Mustang: The Sound of Music

Many times, those throaty exhaust notes flowing from a Ford Mustang is music enough, but just in case cranking that stereo for a cruise is in order, the 2015 Ford Mustang has some sweet surprises in store.

“As our team developed this Mustang, the goal was to improve the car’s fidelity in every respect – from the way it slices through a corner to the way the audio system reproduces the sound of favorite driving songs,” said Dave Pericak, Mustang chief engineer. “The process of rebuilding this car from the ground up allowed us to improve all aspects of the driving experience.”

Three audio systems are available for the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang: A base six-speaker system; Two premium audio setups include a 9-speaker system with 8-inch touchscreen, and a 12-speaker Shaker Pro with trunk-mounted subwoofer.

The six-speaker system in the 2015 Ford Mustang include high-frequency tweeters inside the A-pillars to help move music throughout the cabin. Slimmer 6.5-inch door speaker are included with higher-fidelity mid-range and bass. Another pair of 6.5-inch full-range speakers are in the rear package tray of the fastback or  in the quarter panels of a convertible.

The two premium audio systems available in the 2015 Ford Mustang feature a front center speaker set above the instrument panel.  Both premium systems include a separate 8+1 channel amp with lightweight neodymium magnet speakers. The nine-speaker mid-range setup includes a second speaker in the door with each one separately spewing low and mid-ranged frequencies.

The top-of-the-line Shaker Pro system comes with the EcoBoost premium and Mustang GT Premium edition brings 12 polymer cone speakers, a pair of coaxial tweeter/woofers in the rear, plus a subwoofer mounted in the trunk for max bass. The subwoofer tucked into one corner of the trunk leaves ample room for cargo, enough to fit two full-sized golf bags.

Ford SYNC® is installed with high-power USB ports powered by 2.1 amps located in the center stack which charges devices twice as fast as before. Standard on each system are steering wheel controls with voice activation, wireless Bluetooth and single-disc CD players, and next-gen SYNC AppLink allowing access phone apps without taking away from the road.

“Whether it’s a V8 rumble or ‘Mustang Sally,’ we’ve worked to make this the best-sounding Mustang ever,” said Joe Kafati, multimedia systems supervisor.
