The threshold for calling a vehicle a “show car” is rather low when you think about it. Anybody who has ever modified a car and put it into a car show can technically lay claim to the show car title, but like cars, not all car shows are equal. The annual SEMA show in Las Vegas brings together automakers and aftermarket parts companies alike, and only the best customs will attract any attention on the crowded convention center floors.
This 2016 Mustang GT built by KAO Autosyling is definitely an attention-grabber, but now that it has done its SEMA duty, it’s time to move onto the next project. This unique Mustang is heading to Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction this weekend where the 500 horsepower ponycar hopes to attract big bucks.
Sitting on a lowered Eibach suspension and breathing through a Borla exhaust, the KAO Mustang GT also wears big Brembo brakes for added stopping power. A custom paint job reminds us of the famous Eleanor Shelby GT500 of Gone In 60 Seconds fame, and a custom body kit completes the retro/modern look for this former SEMA star.
Under the hood the 5.0 liter V8 has been massaged from its standard 430 horsepower up to a claimed by the seller 500, thanks to the aforementioned exhaust kit, as well as an intake and DiabloSport tuner. We have a feeling there’s more here than what’s listed if this car is pushing the 500 mark. Specially designed 20-inch wheels from TSW complete the SEMA show car look, though we don’t know how much this comparatively-mild modified Mustang might pull down at auction. Sure, SEMA is a well known show, but does simply being there add more value to a vehicle?
