50th Anniversary 2015 Mustang Caught By Spy Photographer

The 2015 Mustang hasn’t even hit Ford dealer showrooms yet, and we’re already seeing spy photos of what is likely the first special edition model. Appropriately that model is in celebration of the car’s 50th anniversary. Show here in photographs sent to us from Mustang6g.com, this particular model has subtle cues to set it apart from standard Mustangs.

First notice the grille, with the corralled pony, reminiscent of the 1965 original. Also notice that the car appears to have louvered quarter windows, again harkening back to classic first-gen models. Another nod towards the original Mustang are the wheels. Take a close look at the spoke design seems to pay tribute to those first gen cars, and their wheel design.

This particular test car appeared to be a GT, given away by the 5.0 badges on the front fenders. We also noticed in some of the additional photographs posted at Mustang6g.com that this particular car is wearing the Brembo brake package. This would also seem to confirm for us that Ford will once again offer some type of brake or performance package when the new GT debuts later this year.

While we see no badging that would indicate this is an anniversary model, the car is also one of the first testers we’ve seen appear in white. We’re not sure if this is Wimbledon or Oxford white, but that would be a nod towards the original cars as well, and we’ve heard rumors that Ford is bringing back the Wimbledon white color for 2015 as an anniversary version.

We also noticed from the photos at Mustang6g.com that there are no badges on the deck-lid on this test car. Ford will likely have a special 50th anniversary badge to go there, being the only spot the car will likely get marked externally as a special edition Mustang.

These photos also put to rest rumors we’d previously seen reported that Ford would be using the current 2014 Mustang model as a 2014 1/2 to commemorate the 50th anniversary. It looks like those reports were wrong, and Ford will celebrate the Mustang’s 50th anniversary on the car’s all new platform.
