Our friend JM thought he had hit the Jack Pot. While driving through the Idaho countryside he spotted one of the most excellent pieces of machinery ever built: a 1967 Mustang GT Fastback. This ’67 Mustang was sitting behind a chain link fence on a quiet Gem State property. According to his story on Cars in Barns, as soon as JM laid eyes upon this classic iron, he fell in love at first sight.
Judging from the photos, the exterior appears to be in great shape. The cherry red paint job looks in tact and clean. It’s a little dusty and some what faded but the dry climate of Idaho has prevented any major harm. The car also appears to be rust free, with no rust on any of the chrome, metal trim or the body itself.
JM decided to knock on the door and inquire about the car. He spoke with the owner and learned several interesting things. The car has it’s original 390 tied to a 4 speed, the entire car has less than 50,000 original miles on it!
The owner also told him a sad story involving the car. The owner’s wife drove the Mustang until she sadly passed away in 1975. The owner parked the car and it’s been sitting in the same spot for the last 38 years. This meant, of course, the Mustang was not for sale as it held too many memories, and the owner could not part with it.
Even though he couldn’t purchase it, JM got to see a rare Mustang. Who knows maybe one day this the owner will drive this car again. At least we know it will remain with him for the rest of his days. Knowing the tale behind the pony, would you try again later or let him keep this Mustang – and it’s memories – all to himself?
