The American and British auto industries have never been shy about borrowing from each other, which is what gave us legendary vehicles such as Shelby’s AC Cobra. Fifty years later, Ford is finally returning the favor by offering our former masters a right-hand drive version of the Mustang, offered with either the potent 2.3-liter EcoBoost or hearty Coyote 5.0 V8. With the arrival of the Mustang, so too comes the arrival of the Mustang’s extensive modification industry.
Sutton Bespoke, the tuning division of the Clive Sutton line of luxury dealerships, is offering Brits their first take on a supercharged Mustang with the CS700, reports Top Gear. That 700 denotes the horsepower level, though there’s more to this Bespoke Mustang than just raw power.
Before we get to that though, we should also discuss the CS350 and CS500 packages Sutton Bespoke also offers. Offered on the 2.3-liter EcoBoost and 5.0-liter V8 models, respectively, both packages add a cold air intake, quad exhaust tips with “active exhaust control”, and a new rear valance. The packages supposedly raise horsepower to 330 for the EcoBoost and 440 for the GT, which sounds fairly conservative to us, given that a stock EcoBoost is rated at 310 and the Coyote at 435.
However, the supercharged CS700 is the right-hand drive Mustang you really want. Upgraded with a Whipple supercharger, an intercooler, and the same active quad exhaust system, Sutton Bespoke claims the CS700 makes 645 horsepower. Not quite the 727 horsepower of the Hellcat-killing Roush Mustangs, but if you opt for the upgraded injectors, larger throttle body, and bigger supercharger pulley, horsepower rises to an even 700. The full CS700 package will cost you about $21,000, and that’s before an additional goodies like the 20-inch Vossen wheels and carbon fiber body kit.
All in all, it’s very American packaging for the right-hand-drive British version of the S550 Mustang.
