If you have a project car sitting around and you have been looking for an awesome engine and transmission to cram inside, this eBay auction might be your chance. What you see here is a 2012 Boss 302 with about 1,600 miles on it that has been totaled out. The owner of the car says that he and a passenger were on their way home when they were run off the road by a drunk driver. The car appears to have rolled and has significant damage.
Two things jump out at me from the auction listing. First, the eBay AutoCheck report says the car has never been in an accident. The second thing is that the owner says the car has “mostly cosmetic damage.” I’d say a crushed roof, broken suspension bits, and various other damage qualifies as a bit more than cosmetic damage. The good news here for anyone looking for an epic drive train for a project car is that the Boss engine and the 6-speed tranny along with the electronics are intact.
The owner says the car ever starts and runs fine. The Boss 302 crate motor alone is $15,000 and with this car you get the 6-speed transmission and the electronics you would need to say cram this motor under the hood of a Fox notch project car. Sadly, the car has no Recaro seats and that would also mean no Torsen diff out back either. You could use the standard rear end though with the Boss factory 3.73 gears and it appears the wheels are still good. The owner is asking $20,000 for the wreck and is taking offers.
