It is hard to imagine the final moments of the driver of this mustang after viewing the horrific images of the remaining wreckage. Although many would jump to believe that this tragedy was the result of a street race, it was simply a solo car crash according CBS Los Angeles. A twenty-year-old female driver appears to have lost control of the Mustang. The out of control Mustang jumped the curb, collided with trees, and came to rest upside down. Based on the evidence, it appears that speed was the likely to have contributed to the incident that left four high schools students injured. All four of the injured students are under the age of 18-years-old.
Even though this tragic crash claimed the life of the 20-year-old and injured four others, it should serve as a reminder that speeding has dire consequences. Street racing, texting, speeding, and driving like an enraged lunatic have the potential for serious injury to oneself and others. With horsepower and torque numbers improving each year, it is important to remember that even the 6-cylinder versions of the beloved pony cars can easily get out of control. Gone are the days the days of underpowered V-8s, gutless 6-cylinders, or anemic gas saving four cylinder Mustangs. Even though one can crash a VW bus, it is likely to not be at a high rate of speed, for those interested in playing the devil’s advocate. Please keep this calamity in mind the next time you want to show off for your friends. With great horsepower comes a great responsibility to drive safely, and use it wisely.
