The Cleveland engine has long been a favorite of many high performance enthusiasts. With their unique heads and capability of producing big power, fans of the engine have only been limited to what the production blocks will handle. Some have turned to Windsor blocks topped with Cleveland heads and run “Clevor” setups. This has allowed enthusiasts to take advantage of aftermarket Windsor style blocks, and the wide array of parts available for them.

Now though, there is a Cleveland specific aftermarket block available that should stand up to just about anything that most enthusiasts will throw at it. The Titus engine block by McKeown Motorpsorts Engineering has many features found in other aftermarket blocks, but now available for the Cleveland platform. The Titus is available in 9.2 or 9.5-inch deck heights allowing for a variety of displacement options.

The main webs have been designed to allow for a larger amount of material. Bore sizes are available as 4.00 to 4.200-inch configurations. The oiling system has been redesigned for priority main oiling. The block uses a one-piece rear main seal that is compatible with production or aftermarket crankshafts. The main caps are wider than stock and use splayed outer bolts to tie them into the thick pan rail for additional strength. The cam tunnel configuration also allows for the use of stock or optional oversize camshaft journals, including those that allow for the use of a Windsor engine cam and distributor. This block also accepts factory style Cleveland engine accessories.

Options for the Titus block include:

• Available in iron or aluminum.
• Custom deck heights from 9.100-9.700.
• Custom cam journals.
• Head bolts, 14 or 18 bolts per head.
• Bushed lifter bores.
• Wet sump or dry sump.
• Custom lifter diameters and lifter placements.
• Oversized or roller camshaft bearings.
• Block mounted starter on driver’s side.
• Fuel pump delete.
• Final machining for block delivered ready to assemble.

We could see the Titus block making it’s way into everything from restored or restomod muscle cars, to making waves at the drag strip or road course. With Cleveland fans having a stout aftermarket block to use, we’ll be keeping a lookout for projects with this block going in them in the near future.
