If you’re a fan of Ford’s Focus ST and Fiesta ST, then this is for you. We’ve spoken before about the Ford Racing School at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah, and how they offer a complete driving experience for owners of the BOSS 302 Mustang, and now we’ve got something just like it for you small-car fans. The ST Octane Academy provides Focus ST and Fiesta ST owners with the same type of thrills those BOSS 302 owners get – a chance to get driving instruction and road course time with a team of professional instructors. The intent of the class is to demonstrate the performance capabilities of Ford’s small-car platforms to the owners who have invested in them.
The program was inspired by Octane Academy, a TV series starring Ken Block, Brian Deegan, Tanner Foust, and Vaugn Gittin Jr. The track provides the cars – modified Focus ST and Fiesta ST’s that have been outfitted with full safety equipment for the festivities, and all the owner needs to do is get him or herself out to the Miller Motorsports Park facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. Included in the program on day one is a visit to Hoonigan Racing (Ken Block’s shop in Park City), a dinner and reception follow. The second day will feature morning classroom sessions and track sessions, followed by afternoon exercises with the instructors including lead-and-follow, instructor ride-along, and hot-laps with the instructors driving. There is also an optional extra day of instruction available for additional cost featuring a Mustang GT on the road course and an F-150 SVT Raptor on the off-road course. More details can be found at the ST Octane Academy website.
