As Mustang enthusiasts, many of us love the first generation Mustang – especially fastback version. Each day that goes by, these models are becoming more and more scarce – increasing their rarity and driving up their retail value.
We think it’s safe to assume that many of those models either restored, or original, that are still out there are destined to be sold at private auctions, or through high-dollar pirvate sales.
Fortunately for enthusiasts like ourselves, there are still restoration shops available for the average car guy – like the husband and wife duo at Mab Motors out of San Diego, California. Husband Mark Babala and wife Angela Babala have brought home the bacon for years doing what they do best – restoring classic Mustangs. Mark and Angela have restored classic Mustangs for every client imaginable. From casinos to celebrities, and everything in between. Their latest full restoration is this numbers matching 1965 Mustang GT Fastback. The car was originally built for Sons of Anarchy and Deadwood actor Dayton Callie. However, after having surgery performed on his shoulder, Callie unfortunately was unable to shift the Mustang’s 4-speed manual transmission. It was then that Callie decided to donate the car back to Mab Motors.
Each year, the company donates one vehicle to a charity. This year, Mab Motors has decided to donate its ’65 Fastback to The Pirate Fund. Founded in 1995, the Pirate Fund’s mission is to provide toys for over 70 agencies across the nation for children year-round and during the holiday season. The Mustang will be given away as a raffle prize on December 21st, with the entry free being $10.
Mab Motors plans to raise over $70,000 for this ’65 GT Fastback, which will provide The Pirate Fund enough resources to meet its goal of donating 250,000 toys this year – reaching a new milestone for the organization.
The winner of the raffle will be announced on December 21st on the NBC/WHEC website. To enter for the raffle, visit this link to make a $10 donation today.
