While Carrol Shelby is sadly no longer with us, his legacy lives on and he is certainly not forgotten by his loyal followers and fans. With the Shelby GT350, or GT500 currently not part of the 2015 S550 line up, we can most likely expect its reappearance in 2016 or possibly 2017.
Shrouded in mystery, many are speculating how the impending GT350 variant might look in appearance. JC Design, has recently released their take on the upcoming GT350. Looking at this concept, it could be a good contender of what we might expect to see upon the release of a Shelby badged S550.
With early test vehicles spotted, highly camouflaged, cruising around Dearborn, Michigan, anything is possible. However this design working with the new S550 chassis could work based on what we’ve seen of those camo-covered test mules. Looking at the front we can clearly see an aggressive stance, lowered edgy grille with an enlarged front fascia sporting a sizeable front splitter along with new fog lights. There’s also the large side vents, something we’ve been pointing out for months.
The stock S550 hood is replaced with a uniquely designed unit with an enlarged center scoop that could accommodate a souped-up supercharged version of the Mustang GT’s powerful Coyote 5.0-liter V8, or the rumored new Voodoo engine.
Another noticeable change seen is an upgraded wheel and tire package, along with the traditional louver quartered windows, and a GT350 graphics package. Ford will rumored to be shedding weight through the extensive use of carbon fiber on the GT350 variant. This further feeds the track focused package rumor.
.
We’ve heard rumors of horsepower anywhere from 500 naturally aspirated, to over 700 with a supercharged mill. Other performance enhancements to look for include an upgraded suspension, which could take the GT350 back to its original heritage of a road racer.
No matter the end design, we expect the GT350 will most likely hit the market at around $59,000. Making this the higher end choice for the Mustang enthusiast looking to take their driving experience to the Carroll Shelby level. What do you think of this design? Is this a strong contender and what do you expect to see in the final unveil of a Shelby variant of the S550?
