Back in the day, if you lived anywhere near Jersey, and wanted a tree-forty-seven strokuh (that’s Jersey for 347 stroker) with a YSi, you took your Mustang to LaRocca’s Performance. For the most part, that’s just the way it was. It’s because LaRocca’s built and raced the fastest cars; it was a name synonymous with fast Mustangs. If you wanted a fast Mustang, that’s where you took yours; plain and simple.
Jimmy LaRo
cca has been doing some racing the last couple years, but he and Tommy Annunziata will be making a big splash later in the year with this Cobra Jet. The pair will share driving duties in the car, which was just purchased by Annunziata a couple weeks ago. The plan is to race in NMRA Coyote Modified, and then detune the car for 8.50 index classes.
The Cobra Jet is a ’14 model with a Whipple supercharged 5.0L Coyote engine and a C4 transmission. It seems both LaRocca and Annunziata have to get their NHRA license, which they’ll get at Englishtown in the coming months during the car’s construction and shakedown. If past performances are any indication, this Cobra Jet will fly once it hits NMRA competition later in the year.
