Ken Block Making Push For World Rallycross Championships In Norway

World-renowned X Games medalist and rally star Ken Block is in the process of preparing to compete at the World Rallycross of Norway this coming weekend in his Hoonigan Racing Division Ford Fiesta – part of a three-round campaign into the World Rallycross series. 

Block has had his eye on the European rallycross tracks for a number of years now, and is looking forward to racing against the other competitors in the World RX series, the newest FIA World Championship racing events. 

The car he’ll be racing is an updated version of the 2013 Ford Fiesta ST RX43 that he campaigned last year in the American rallycross events, and has been testing over the last few weeks to get acclimated to the car in its current state.

At the event in Hell, Norway, he’ll be competing against racers from a wide range of motorsports, including F1, WRC, DTM – like two-time DTM champion Mattias Ekstrom. There are 38 cars registered to compete in the headline Supercar category, with another 39 entries in the TouringCar and Super1600 classes. This event will be the second round of the five-race FIA European Rallycross Championship Series.

Block’s exploits in the X Games find him consistently in the top of the field – with a pair of silver medals from Los Angeles in 2012 and Munich in 2013 – but as he hasn’t raced yet against the stiff world competition he’ll have his work cut out for him on the course. Rallycross races are much different from the stage rally events Block usually competes in as the races are much shorter and door-to-door competition.
