It’s Mustang Girl Monday brought to you by
Team Mustang Girls. This week we would like to introduce you to Becki Belcher and her 2008 Saleen S28 and while we are at it, wish Becki a very happy birthday!
Becki grew up watching racing and was at the track almost every weekend. As a child, she had dreams to be a race car driver. Becki was your typical tom boy and loved to run against the boys, because boys loved to race! She spent almost every moment of her childhood engaged in some type of timed trial event against anyone or anything. Needless to say, she’s not outgrown this pattern.
Becki’s mother drove a 1970 Mach 1, and was not a bit shy to go full throttle. Her father was more into modifications, everything he touched turned into more torque. Racing and Mustangs fuel Becki’s passion. When a local drag strip opened up again earlier this year, Becki was determined to run her Mustang down the strip. Her first passes were exactly what she had expected, not fast but a learning experience. “The feeling I got from being in the staging lanes, side by side competition with the challenge of a manual transmission, and racing down the strip was astounding.” From that point on, Becki drag raced the entire summer. If there was a drag strip within a 200 mile radius, she was on it. She finished out the racing season competing in NMRA True Street in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
