It’s Mustang Girl Monday brought to you by Team Mustang Girls. This week we would like to introduce Christy High and her 2013 Mustang GT.

When Christy first went looking for a car she didn’t have anything specific in mind, she figured the right one would just happen. It ended up coming down to a black Evo or a 2003 white GT and something about that GT just clicked. “Probably the purr of the V8, still gets me, every time”.

The mod bug bit her immediately. She couldn’t leave it stock for longer than a day! Christy ripped off the spoiler, lowered it, added full exhaust, intake, new wheels, and had the car tuned now it was ove! However, the car was rather feisty and Christy was constantly chasing demons once she put the heads and cams in it. In fact Christy credits most of her knowledge to that car and it breaking all the time! It popped a plug out of the head, stalled any time the A/C was on, and even spun a bearing.

Oddly enough the engine letting go is Christy’s favorite memory since she got to be hands on throughout the whole repair. Once the engine started knocking she bit the bullet and got a fully built bottom end from Al Pappito at Boss330 Racing. With the help of friends she swapped the motor out and got it all back together in one weekend. “I learned so much that weekend and when we started the car up and backed it out I felt so proud. Even though I had just spent a lot of money and time (and wanted to throw wrenches across the shop), I was motivated and excited to learn more”.

While the car was down she took the time to make the car her own and give it that personal touch by painting the engine pink. “Yes, pink, bright sparkly pink!  I am still a lady, after all”. Christy painted some interior pieces as well and eventually the lips of her wheels. There was no mistaking the car and once her mom even saw her car sitting in traffic on the news and called Christy telling her exactly where she was. “Which totally creeped me out at first.. Mom do you have a GPS on me?!?” Christy loved the car. Unfortunately a lady ran a red light one night, T-boning Christy, and the car was totaled. “I thought maybe it would be a blessing in disguise since the car had gremlins since day one, but in the end I just really missed her”.

Christy tried to rock a Mazda 6 for a couple years while trying to do the sensible thing (buy a house, finish school, etc) but the itch was too strong and she ended up going out and picking up a 2013 Mustang GT and has no regrets. Mustangs have come such a long way and she has had so much fun with this car, too. It hasn’t had quite the learning curve of her ’03 which she is very thankful for! “I’m not sure what is in store for it. I enjoy just driving it the way it is for now. More horsepower is always nice, though”.

Christy stays active in the Mustang scene both with her own car and behind the scenes working at Lethal Performance, where she’s been working for 6 years doing sales and media. She also enjoys attending events from NMRA and Mustang Week to local car meets and even wrote event coverage articles for a small Mustang magazine in her hometown in Florida.

“The Mustang family is huge, and definitely larger than most crowds. These cars are great for any enthusiast, young or old. They’re stylish but without costing 6 figures and the aftermarket for them is massive. You can do just about anything with them and make them your own. The sound of a Mustang is so distinguishable and with the right exhaust setup is music to anyone’s ears. There are haters and critics but what matters is that you love your car. You are the one driving it, putting your own sweat into it. If it doesn’t put a smile on your face when you bang gears down the highway, you’re doing it wrong”.
