It’s Mustang Girl Monday brought to you by Team Mustang Girls. At the 50th Anniversary the girls caught up with Kathy Wilcox and her 2011 Gt 5.0 convertible.
Kathy’s love for Mustangs started at a young age thanks to her father. He was a Ford mechanic and had several Mustangs. Her favorites were the classics with the Pony Interior, something she wishes Ford would bring back. She remembers her Dad sitting her on the center console, and telling her “the pony is talking to you,” meaning it was time for her to shift. Car seats…what were those?
The first car Kathy owned was a ’67 Fastback. From there she moved on to a ’89 GT 5.0. The car still remains a favorite of hers unfortunately when she moved to Connecticut and couldn’t afford all the downtime in the winter months. But in 2010 she reunited with Mustangs when she found her 2011 GT 5.0 convertible. She had to hunt for the Mustang and was told it was the first 5.0 convertible delivered to the state of CT! Kathy grew up a Ford girl and plans to stay that way. “I have a love and appreciation of cars and I’ve owned several. My heart will always be with Ford and especially Ford Mustang.”
Each week Team Mustang Girls features a different woman and her Mustang. If you’d like to see the past featured ladies from Mustang Girl Monday or submit your own Mustang story check out the Team Mustang Girls Facebook page.
