It’s Mustang Girl Monday brought to you by Team Mustang Girls. This week we would like to introduce you to Rachel Potter and her 2012 GT California Special.

Rachel can’t remember a time when she didn’t love the Mustang. Rachel’s parents had been taking her and her brother to the same car show almost every Saturday since before she can remember, but from the times she does remember, she remembers the classic Mustangs. Her parents can easily recall all the times she’d suddenly shout out in public or in the car “Mustang!”, as one would pass by. “I’m not sure exactly why I chose the car as my favorite, maybe it was my love for horses that started it all and the running horse emblem sparked something, or maybe it was the sweeping fastback lines, leading to those classic taillights. Whatever it was, it sparked an obsession in me.”

Rachel hoped for and dreamed of the day she would own her first Mustang. After being grateful but a little let down to receive her mom’s old SUV at the age of 17, her dream came true in a slightly different form. She purchased a 1972 Mach 1 project car with a 351 Cleveland under the hood. Just owning one made Rachel happy, being able to go out in the garage and see it sitting there waiting to be driven one day. The car ran, but in the time she owned it, it never made it to the road, so her dream of driving one was still unfulfilled. That changed shortly after her family moved off of a dirt road in to a town. Rachel successfully convinced them to let her trade in the SUV for the car of her dreams. A few months later, two days after Christmas in 2012, she traded in for a 2010 Mustang GT premium convertible. It was a beautiful black, with a black top, and black leather interior. It had the 4.6 engine and was her first taste of American muscle.

Immediately the build lists started and she laid out the plans for what she wanted to do to the car. Sadly, Rachel’s time with the car was short lived when a lady slammed into the front and totaled the car only three months after her purchase. Two months passed by without a car to call her own, and she was pretty sure she wouldn’t be able to get her hands on another one just as nice. Thankfully, her poor luck turned around quickly, and a beautiful 2012 Mustang GT/CS popped up for sale. She contacted the seller and a few hours later they were there looking at it. It was everything she wanted and more. “The big 5.0 under the hood, the side scoops, wing, front fascia, rear diffuser, and that beautiful interior. I had to have it and happily was able to make it work!”

Now Rachel’s had the 2012 GT/CS for over a year and a half and has enjoyed every moment. The modding started right away with the purchase of a BOSS 302 intake manifold and a tuner, then progressed with exhaust changes, Just 2 weeks ago Rachel changed the color to a Plasti dipped Electric Lime. The car still has its Boss Manifold with the addition of an off-road -pipe and Flowmaster Outlaw mufflers to give it that aggressive growl. Roderick RW7 wheels, and Air Lift Performance’s digital air system for all the fun of parking practically on the ground. Rachel can now say she has her dream car and she wouldn’t change it for the world!
