Every year at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, thousands of Ford enthusiasts from across the US and Canada gather from one of the largest Ford-specific car shows in the world. While you can expect to find even the rarest classic Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury models on display here, by far the most popular entrant is the Ford Mustang, that most American of muscle cars.

In celebration of its American heritage, Carlisle Events is organizing more than 150 Mustangs into a gigantic American flag display, and you can be a part of it! While this isn’t the first time Carlisle has organized a vehicular Old Glory, it is a first using exclusively Mustangs.

Last year, Carlisle Events organized a small fleet of Chevy Corvettes (pictured above) in a similar display of American pride. This time around though, organizers are bringing together over 150 Mustangs, including 57 red ones, 51 white ones, 35 blue ones, and 10 silver ones to make their automotive rendition of the American flag.

“Nothing is more American than America’s Pony Car, the Ford Mustang,” noted Ford Nationals Event Manager Ken Appell. “To honor this historic vehicle and the country is no small feat, but with the help of our loyal enthusiasts, we know this will end up being something very special. When I made the decision to move forward with this display, I knew it had to be big and most importantly, had to be done right,” continued Appell. “After much talk with our Carlisle Events team we knew a BIG American Flag made out of Ford Mustangs is the right way to do it. I can’t wait to see our dream become a reality and earn its place in Mustang history.”
