The next big movie release that most of us are looking forward to will be the upcoming Need For Speed film, which will hit theaters on March 14, a short two weeks from now. While Aaron Paul will play the lead, a key role in this film is the car which he drives, a Mustang. Little has been revealed about this car as of yet, all we know is what we’ve seen in photos and trailers, the car appears to be a highly modified variant of the current S197. We also know that at what looks like the end to the film, Paul rides off into the sunset behind the wheel of a 2015 Mustang GT, that car’s big screen debut.

One Mustang and film maniac will have a chance to add the Need For Speed Mustang to their collection on April 12, when the hero car from the movie crosses the auction block at the Barrett-Jackson event in Palm Beach, Florida. For those who don’t know, a hero car is one used for close ups, and typically for all of the shots involving close ups of the actors.

The Mustang used in Need For Speed is based around a 2014 Mustang GT. This car received a custom wide body treatment, big 22-inch Forgiato wheels, and an enlarged lower grille opening. The rocker panels were also extended, the mirrors given a low-profile design, and the hood is a custom twin-snorkel piece. Painted in silver with Kona blue stripes, the package is visually appealing, and early on many enthusiasts speculated that it hinted at the 2015 Mustang design.

Proceeds from the sale of the car will benefit the Henry Ford Health System, one of the USA’s largest comprehensive health care systems. We’ll be watching to see if the hype surround the NFS Mustang drives prices way up before the hammer falls on April 12.
