These high-end, special-production Mustangs bring another level of racing to our events. – Rollie Miller, PromediaWith the success of the extremely competitive, and fan favorite, VMP Superchargers Terminator/GT500 Shootout in 2015 the class is back for three NMRA events for 2016. This pairs the quickest and fastest ’03-’04 Cobras and ’07-’14 GT500’s in the world against each other in a brawl at several high-profile events in the NMRA series.
“These high-end, special-production Mustangs bring another level of racing to our events,” said Rollie Miller of ProMedia. “With a separate purse for the UPR Products Quick 8 this year, we’re giving everyone a chance to race and compete.”
The VMP Supercharger class pits a group of eight and nine-second factory suspension SVT-based cars, such as Frank Yee’s event winning 03′ Cobra, in an awe inspiring all-out drag race for the Terminator/GT500 trophy. Also new for the 2016 year is a rule change that eliminates combinations running dry-sump oiling systems from competition.
With the added excitement of the fastest eight cars comes the opportunity of competing in the totally new UPR Products Quick 8 heads-up 1/4-mile class for a separate purse and title.
All Terminator/GT500 racers receive free class entry into the grueling NMRA True Street. The class dictates that all of the cars must be registered, licensed, and insured, and complete a mandatory 30-mile cruise. True Street participation isn’t mandatory however.
