It pays to be President of ‘Merica. The F-150 King Ranch is the most luxurious F-150 built yet, and this particular example came right off W’s Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas. It sold this past weekend for the whopping price of $350,000 at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, Florida. It’s not often a piece of Presidential history comes up for sale, but former President Bush put his awesome King Ranch up for sale to benefit the National Guard’s Youth ChalleNGe program, and tapped Barrett-Jackson to handle the sale.
According to the provenance, the truck was used by “Dubya” and the Misses to entertain friends, family, and our favorite Saudi Arabian oil magnates during their duck hunting visits to the ranch. A stock 5.4L, 310-horsepower Modular engine powers the machine, and it features the sweet King Ranch leather gut.
One of the unique touches to the truck is the President’s signature on the passenger-side airbag panel, a la Carroll Shelby, to prove the vehicle’s worth.and the winning bidder even received a video of the President signing the airbag cover. We can’t imagine the truck having seen much use, as the President said “I haven’t driven on a street in many, many years, but I have been able to drive this truck on my ranch.” We’re not sure if that’s a good or bad thing – since he hasn’t driven on the street, how do we know he didn’t wreck the suspension cruising it around? Regardless, it’s a nice thing for the President to sell it off to benefit charity, and we’re not sure who the winning bidder was, but we have to wonder if former VP Cheney didn’t sign on the line. After all, the King Ranch is a great way to transport your hunting buddies to the hospital -of course we say that jokingly.
