This Thursday Saleen Automotive will reveal an all-new vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Will it be Ford-powered?

For the first time since the S7 supercar, Saleen Automotive will release a vehicle not based on an existing production model. This all-new sports car is set for a reveal this week in Los Angeles.

“Steve announces the upcoming launch of the Saleen 1, which has been affectionately referred to as the S1,” says the company. “This newest Saleen vehicle, which will debut at the 2017 LA Auto Show, has been 100-percent designed and engineered by Steve Saleen and his team at their base of operations in California.”

While we aren’t certain what will power this vehicle, the S7 featured a Ford-based powerplant, so this new machine might just be powered by a Ford engine, albeit one of smaller displacement, but we won’t be sure until Thursday.

The S1 represents a partnership between Saleen Automotive and Jiangsu Saleen Automotive Technologies Group, which commissioned the new vehicle. This new car is set to start production right away alongside Saleen’s Mustangs and other production-based cars in Corona, California.

The S1 will break cover at the Saleen Display in the West Hall Atrium of the Los Angeles Auto Show this Thursday at 10:35 a.m. Pacific time.
